Earth-Centered Naikan Earth-Centered Naikan is the Japanese art of self-reflection. The word Naikan means, “looking inside”, and is essentially a gratitude practice similar to yoga, meditation, or prayer. Ishin Yoshimoto developed Naikan in Japan in the 1940’s. Described as a simple practice of attention and self-reflection, Naikan is comprised of three basic components:
