| Just as we grieve for loved ones who have passed on, we also grieve for sacred places and vanishing animal/plant species. These places of presence and animal/plant ancestors hold special meaning, have often endured tragic assault—like clear-cutting, toxic dumping, fire, development, demolition, and or neglect—and are bound up with our view of our world and ourselves. Eileen and earthkeeper friends answer community appeals for creative responses to broken places by facilitating intuitive, compassionate, community healing ceremonies.
- A pre-ceremony meeting is held for community participants to share feelings,
ideas and known history of the land, plant or animal species.
- During the ceremony, each participant has the opportunity to express individual
feelings and or memories related to the wounded place.
- Deep listening to the spirit of the place is essential, while participants are
encouraged to allow the ceremony to unfold organically and spontaneously.
- Every action, every step of the Earth, is enacted with great reverence,
love and intention.
- Following the ceremony closing with spoken word, gesture, song or silence,
participants sit in sacred circle for sharing and reflection.
