One Thousand Paper Cranes for Peace

.Inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki of Japan, and her vision for world peace, Eileen Pardini will facilitate folding circles with the goal of folding one thousand origami paper cranes to send to the United Nations or other selected recipient annually on September 21, International World Peace Day. Cranes are a symbol of longevity in Japan and are often portrayed as divine messengers. Legend has it that a crane lives for a thousand years and thus, if you fold a thousand paper cranes, your wish will come true.

Eileen will establish sacred space for folding, and create an ideal environment for mindful attention on every piece of paper, and every individual crane that is imagined and created. Hold each finished crane in your hand and blow your prayer or intention into the finished bird. School, community, faith-based, and youth groups are encouraged to participate.
